There are people who love to play games where they don’t have to think and all they have to do is slide and tap and mix and match of all sorts. Then there are those mobile gamers that will not play if their brains aren’t engaged and if they are not cerebrally challenged enough. If you are the second type of person, then this new game on Android called Standpoint will definitely be your cup of tea.
We don’t really know why you’re trapped in a labyrinth of endless corridors, but nevertheless, that’s where you find yourself in this game. But even though you’re trapped in there, you also have the ability to change things in there, like the orientation of the walls, making the ceilings the floor, etc. Your environment is actually a physical manifestation of the stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance – the Kubler-Ross model) and the environment always changes to reflect your emotions, in whatever stage you’re in.
The first-person puzzle platformer challenges you to solve the puzzles as you listen to the cryptic narrator. You’ll also collect several secrets along the way, which might be of use to you later on. Even the soundtrack is part of the solution, as it reacts to your movements as well. When you come up against seemingly insurmountable walls or environs, that’s when you have to come up with inventive solutions like changing your point of view (literally), hence the name of the game.
You can download Standpoint from the Google Play Store for $10.14. Based on the visuals and the challenges you’ll be facing, it looks like the price tag is worth it, if you like puzzlers like this one.
