When you’re trying to get a car through shared ride services, especially when you’re in a large venue with many entrances or exits, it can be a bit complicated for them to find you or for you to give specific instructions/directions to them. One of the more popular services, Lyft, is now releasing more refined drop-off and pick-up points so this part of the service will not be such a headache for the users.

Even though you set the address on your app, there are times when the driver gets lost, especially if it’s a particularly large venue, like the airport to a stadium or a mall. You can call them or message them, but for times when that is inconvenient or if you’re in a hurry, then that’s precious seconds or minutes wasted. Or sometimes you’re on a call while inside the car and you cannot pause to tell the driver where to drop you off.

With the latest app update, users will now be able to select more specific places for the pick up and drop off, like the door at an airport terminal, or which entrance of the mall the driver should go to. However, with the sheer number of malls or airports or other big venues in the US, this will not be available at all places across the nation. They do plan to expand to more places later on.

The feature is rolling out gradually, although some users have already seen it at work, some even as early as March. Lyft reports that for those who were able to use it already, there has been a reported 25% drop in calls between rider and driver. The specific drop offs and pick ups are available for over 200 hundred places but they plan to add more in the future.
