A new portable battery pack has debuted called the Lumopack that claims to be one of the fastest charging battery packs in all the land. The portable battery will keep your Android device going while you are away from an outlet. Rather than needing a full day to charge itself, the Lumopack is able to get enough power to charge a Galaxy S6 fully in only 9 minutes.

With 140W charging from the outlet, the Lumopack can recharge to its full 6000 mAh capacity only 30 minutes. At full capacity, the manufacturer says that it can recharge a smartphone like the iPhone 6 from dead to full three times.

Lumopack also claims to last longer than other portable batteries on the market with the ability to survive 1000 charge cycles. Typical battery packs can only survive 300-500 charge cycles. Other features include a LED light to light your way in the dark.

The battery uses a microUSB input to charge and a full size USB port for charging devices. It’s inside an anodized aluminum shell and has five indicator dots for charge level. It’s on Kickstarter seeking $50,000 and has raised over $22,000 so far. A pledge of $69 or more will get you a Lumopack with shipping expected in October.

This is a crowdfunded project, and as such may not deliver what its creators initially promise. Most crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, have policies about what happens to your money if the project fails to deliver on its goals, but choosing to back a project is inevitably a risk. Android Community’s reporting on crowdfunded projects should in no way be seen as an endorsement, unless specifically stated, and we recommend closely examining the terms and conditions to understand your individual rights as a backer before making a pledge.
