BOTs are poised to take over the world. Okay, not really the world, but apparently, our messaging services. We’ve seen several apps introduce or are planning to introduce bots, some from third-party services even, in a bid to keep users on their messaging app as long as possible. LINE is the latest one planning on opening up its business platform and so now they’re giving out 10,000 free BOT API trial accounts for 3rd party developers who would be interested.

The announcement that LINE was eventually going to open up its business platform to developers was made during the recently concluded LINE Conference in Tokyo. But prior to officially letting other businesses have access to their API, the Japan-based messaging app is letting 10,000 developers try out the BOT API first.

If they get accepted into the program, they will be able to create bot accounts on LINE already and like their own systems and services with that of their LINE account. They can then create a bot account that will be able to send and receive API-driven messages. You can create a search for specific services, schedule apps to give notifications, sync it with smart appliances at your home, etc. And you will be able to do all these things without leaving the LINE app.

But since this is still a trial program, they will be putting a limit on the number of friends the BOT API trial accounts can have, which is 50 for now. The account may also be temporarily stopped or eventually terminated without warning, if there are harmful bugs that result from the bots.
