Officially speaking, LG’s Optimus T Android-based handset was announced on the 7th of October, so just a few weeks ago. Since then, there’s been a few other handsets heading to T-Mobile that have raked up just enough publicity and customer anticipation that the LG handset has kind of slipped to the wayside. But, it’s still a stand-out “middle of the road” Android handset, and it’s still scheduled to launch some time in the early weeks of November.

In due course, demo units of the handset have begun to drop into T-Mobile stores across the country. These aren’t the lifeless models that some may expect. Fully functioning, if you can find a T-Mo store that has one on the floor, you’ll be able to play with one in your hand for a short time. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like WiFi calling is supported on the device quite yet, but there’s still a couple weeks that LG could push it onto the device.

What it does have, though, is the portable hotspot feature. T-Mobile seems content on keeping the feature on their Android handsets, which should please plenty of customers out there. Anyone interested in the Optimus T, rather than, say, the HTC myTouch 4G?
