Last week Google shocked everyone by dropping the price on the already affordable and awesome LG Nexus 4 smartphone by $100. Making it an instant buy and one of the best deals for a smartphone around. Well, it certainly didn’t last long because a quick trip to the Play Store shows Google’s all out of the 8GB version already.
Priced at $299 and $349 for the 8GB and 16GB was already a great deal. Especially considering the 4.7-inch 720p HD display, quad-core processor, 8 megapixel camera, and of course having the latest version of stock vanilla Android. Soon after the $100 price drop that $199 8GB option dried up quick, and we have a feeling the 16GB is only a few days behind.
Google’s currently listing the 8GB as “We are out of inventory. Please check back soon.” Instead of the usual out of stock comment, but we’re not sure if it will ever return. The listing states to check back soon, but we’re all hopeful a new Nexus 5 from LG or Motorola is coming soon.
So far the rumor on the interwebs is a Motorola Nexus could replace the Nexus 4, with an even bigger better LG Nexus 5 based on the G2 to also arrive, but so far these are nothing but salty rumors. If Google follows years past, we’ll be seeing a late October release date for the next Nexus. This means the rumors should really start heating up any day now.
Anyone considering snagging a Nexus 4 while they are still available might want to hurry, those 16GB models at $249 won’t last long. If you bought one, enjoy it.
