It looks like China is another country that will get the LG G5 Lite. Well, that’s not its official name actually, but it’s what people have been calling it since the specs are a toned-down version of the current LG G5 flagship. LG H848 (the official model name at least) has been spotted on the TENAA website which means it is headed for that region of the world. Some specs have already been previously leaked and the sighting doesn’t really add anything new, except that Chinese citizens might be getting it soon.
What made this upcoming smartphone into LG G5 Lite is the fact that it will be running on Snapdragon 652, as opposed to the original flagship’s Snapdragon 820. It will still have a 5.3” QHD screen, but the RAM has also been reduced to 3GB as compared to the 4GB of the LG G5. It also maintains the modular design as well as the camera specs (16MP main and 8MP secondary). Internal storage is still at 32GB and it will also come out of the box with Android 6.0 Marshmallow running.
So basically, the difference between the LG G5 and the LG H848 is the processor and the RAM. When it was first rumored to be coming to Latin America, the reduced processor was supposedly as a cost-cutting measure. That may very well be the reason for China as well so that they will be able to bring down the cost to a level that will attract those looking for mid-range devices.
The original LG G5 will be available in the US and other regions by April 1. LG Friends will also be available by that time so we can see how this whole modular design will work in reality and market-wise as well.
