With the positive consumer reaction to its current flagship handset the G3, LG is possibly going for a bigger market share with the LG G3 Beat, which looks suspiciously like the G3 Mini that we have been hearing about for some time now. The G3 Beat was shown off in China at this year’s Tianyi Mobile Phone Trade Exhibition, and the spec sheet for the new phone looks like it’s going to be a winner as well.

The G3 Beat is definitely slightly smaller than the G3, but we’ll take a look at what “smaller” really means later. For now, we all need the lowdown on the G3 Beat – starting with a 5-inch 1280×720 IPS display. Under the hood, it is armed with a quad core Snapdragon processor turning at 1.2Ghz (possibly a Snapdragon 200) and 2GB of RAM. It will also have 16GB of internal storage.

The G3 Beat will also have dual-mode LTE, supporting both TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE, as well as the standard CDMA and GSM systems. The unit shown in China has dual-sim capability, although it would be interesting to see if they carry this feature over to the international rollout. The G3 Beat also sports an 8MP main camera and a 2MP front-facing one, the unit powered by a 2540mAh battery.

This will most likely be deployed as the G3 Mini all over the world soon, but contrary to the rumors that this will be a 4.5-inch phone (smaller than the G2 Mini), the G3 Beat is large and standard with a 5-inch screen. Yes, it is slightly smaller than the G3, it’s not really a “mini” in the truest sense of the word, is it?
