We don’t know a lot of tablets receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop but here’s the LG G Pad 8.3 about to enjoy Android 5.1. The changes on the software may not be that noticeable but the fact that the LG tablet received the Lollipop last December and now this Android 5.1 is impressive. It’s actually just for the Google Play Edition getting some more bug fixes and enhancements.
Notice how the GPE devices are quickly receiving the sweet mobile OS update? That is expected since it’s already a special Google version. The LG G Pad 8.3 already runs Android 5.0 so upgrading to Android 5.1 should be very easy.
If you own an LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, you should be receiving an Over-The-Air (OTA) notification. If you haven’t, feel free to check by going to
Settings> About tablet> System updates on your tablet. Your LG G Pad should have at least 200MB of extra space. Start downloading and start waiting for future Lollipop updates.
I wonder if the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition will still receive Android 5.1.1 or Android 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, and so on. We’ll see. For now, let’s just thank the Android gods for the good news.

I got the update to 5.1 yesterday, my tablet is a lot more responsive. I am very impressed. Thanks Google!
Still waiting for 5.1 for Nexus 9, but rumours have it as more 64 bit than 5.0, or also likely to be 5.1.1 ; my sister’s Note 2 and more immanently her Nexus 7 original, 32 GB, 3G mobile version, to get 5.0.
