You may not have a virtual reality headset yet but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience 360 degree multimedia, especially now that a lot of OEMs are concertedly pushing VR. If you have an LG G5 (or are planning to get one soon), then you’ll be able to experience it through the 360 Wallpaper feature that is free to download from the LG SmartWorld. These spherical images gives users a glimpse into the joy of having virtual reality and 360-degree imagery on your smartphone.
Once you’ve installed the 360 Wallpaper feature onto your LG G5 and you’ve chosen which wallpaper to adorn your smartphone, when you move it left or right or you swipe through your display, you’ll see the wallpaper come alive, just like you would if you were wearing a VR headset and seeing images through it. These photos can also be viewed in your smartphone’s cinematic view.
There are 12 photos available right now, and they will be adding four new images every month starting May to November. If you have one of the LG G5 friends, the LG 360 CAM, you can also take spherical photos with it and then use it as a 360-degree wallpaper for the flagship. “360-degree photography is still in its early stages but we believe it will drive adoption of VR innovation in the mobile space,” said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company.
The 360 Wallpapers will be available starting this month until November, in all 69 countries where the LG SmartWorld is available. You can download the app itself or go to www.LGWorld.
