There has been much hype about the Lenovo Yoga Book, a new 2-in-1 device that doubles as a tablet and a working netbook with a keyboard. But it’s so much more than that – you have a stylus with real ink that writes on paper but translates what you write as digital notes on the tablet. And oh, a virtual keyboard with haptic feedback that appears when you need it and disappears when you don’t.

So let’s look at what the Lenovo Yoga Book has under the hood. You get a 10.1-inch FullHD (1080p) display powered (surprisingly) by an Intel Atom x5-Z8550 processor, quad-core up to 2.4GHz. That’s supported by 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The OS will be Android Marshmallow, although it also comes in Windows 10 models, and there’s an 8,500mAh batter to keep the lights on.

There are a number of ways you can do inputs into the Lenovo Yoga Pad. You can do it with the stylus (no ink) on the screen itself, you can put a piece of paper on the “Create Pad” and write with the stylus (with ink this time) and the pad translates it to digital notes. There’s also a virtual keyboard they call the “Halo Keyboard”, which will appear on demand. We don’t know how ok you are with a virtual keyboard with no tactile buttons, so jury is still out on this feature.

The Yoga Book is available now for pre-order, prices starting at USD$499. The 2-in-1 device will start shipping on October 17 in the US, and it is available in black, grey, or the very popular champagne gold which is out of stock at the moment.

  1. I got mine last Friday. It’s a great tablet. I don’t know if mine’s an error in shipping or they’re letting them all go early, but I’m happy to have it.
