There is very little room at the low niches of the smartphone market, a lot of brands are fighting for visibility in a market that is saturated by cheap phones made with cheap materials and poor specs. What stands out, it seems, are the ones who offer significantly more than others in this tier. The Lenovo A3900 is a phone that has recently been made official by the Taiwan-based outfit, and is looking to find buyers in the budget-friendly area.
Let’s take a look at what’s under the Lenovo A3900’s hood. At the heart of it all is a 1.2Ghz quad-core MediaTek MT6752 processor – which is mostly par for the course in this segment. It powers a 5-inch 854×480 display, pretty poor pixel density at 196ppi, and is supported by 512MB of RAM. The phone is dual SIM, which is just about right for Asia and other parts of the world that is not US, and it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The phone features 4GB internal storage (expandable via microSD), a 5MP/2MP camera combo, and a 2,300mAh battery to power the whole thing. In its defense, the Lenovo A3900 is not unbelievably thick, heavy, or bulky – which sometimes is the quality of devices in this market segment. At 8.95mm, it’s still slim enough to hold in your hand comfortably.
The device now retails at USD$80.00 – this price point is one thing it has going for it. And with 4G connectivity and USB On-the-go capability, the deal is not that bad, you see. We should expect to see this budget phone in emerging markets like China and India.
