Android Auto isn’t as popular yet as expected but it’s slowly moving to becoming a standard. It rivals CarPlay and other similar services but we know it has the potential to be as widespread because it’s Android. There are millions of Android phones all over the world so we won’t be surprised if a lot of people start using it more. Actually, there’s no problem with Android devices. Availability depends mostly on the type of vehicle if it’s supported or not.
We’ve seen a few major enhancements to the platform but it has yet to hit an important milestone. We have no numbers as to how many Android Auto users are there already in the US and other key markets but most people have been clamoring for ‘OK Google’. The lack of support is one possible reason but good thing Google is adding this feature.
Finally and officially, there’s OK Google support in Android Auto. Set up the app and once enabled, you can wake it up by simply using voice commands. Both Android Auto and Google Maps can now be used at the same time.
The latest version of Android Auto is available for download from APK Mirror. Feel free to try and download at your own risk. Make sure you also get the most recent update for the main Google app.
