If you are the owner of the Kobo Arc tablet, Kobo has announced that the tablet now has a new Android update available. The new update brings the operating system on the tablet to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update also bring some new optimizations for the user experience on the tablet.
The Arc is a seven-inch tablet with full access to the Google Play store and all the apps that are available. The display supports high-definition resolution and 16 million colors. The tablet was offered with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of storage available. The Android 4.1 update brings with it access to Google Now to help people organize their busy schedule right from the device.
The update also brings improved notifications with actionable notifications that can be accessed from directly within the notifications area. Those notifications can also be expanded or collapsed to display more or less detail. The search functionality on the tablet was also improved.
Content can now be searched with text or voice search capability. Google Search can be opened directly from the locked screen by swiping up with a finger. The OS update also brings optimizations for voice recognition and improved predictive typing. The tablet also gets a new Face Unlock feature that can optionally require a blink to verify that a real person is unlocking the tablet. The Android 4.1 download should be offered to Arc customers the next time they connect to a Wi-Fi network.
