Following the release of its mobile app on Apple’s platform, Klout is now releasing the first version of its Android app. Now with Klout on your mobile device, you’ll be able to more easily see what popular among your followers, post on social networks, and, of course, maintain your social rank.
Klout might already be familiar to avid users of social networking, both for personal and business use, but for those new to it, Klout is basically a service that shows you your standing in the greater social networking universe. It uses metrics such as your number of followers, activities, likes, and many others to determine where you are on a scale of 1 to 100. It is almost like a popularity ranking, but with a bit of math involved.
Previously, Klout’s functionality has been accessible only via a web interface. With the mobile app on Android, Klout users can manage and maintain their social activities right on their smartphone or tablet. More than just giving you your Klout number, the app actually lets you post to social networks like Twitter or Facebook directly from within the app. And to help you find content that will strike a chord among your circles, the Klout app will show you links that are popular with your others in your lists. You can also filter them out based on topics that are interesting to you and to your friends.
Klout does have its share of detractors and critics, but for those who are already heavy users of the service, this new app frees them from the shackles of a web browser. Klout for Android is now available on Google Play Store at no cost and no in-app purchases.
