The usual goal of OEMs is to make phone displays as vivid and clear as possible while making the device appear slimmer, thinner, and for some even bezel-less. That can be quite a feat but a recent development by Japan Display Inc. has allowed a Full Active LCD display on a slimmer bezel for future smartphones. This new display is a 5.5-inch Full-HD LCD screen that can be used in new phones.
JDI (Japan Display Inc.) was able to achieve this technology by simply utilizing a high-density wiring layout plus some module assembly technologies. They help reduce the bottom bezel size so it will be like the three other sides. This means a display that is about the same size as the phone.
This LCD module structure can soon be found in future mobile devices. JDI is still finalizing the design and technology but is aiming to bring the product into mass production by March 2017. This new LCD will not be limited to smartphones. They can also be used for other products like tablets, notebook computers, TVs, and wearables among others.
With the Full Active display, Japan Display Inc. will allow several OEMs and brands to produce more stunning and bigger display. It’s only a matter of time before we can take advantage of such display.
