While the idea of Apple Music coming to Android devices will make you laugh out loud, smirk, or excited, you have to admit that we’re all probably curious as to how it would look like, how it will “act” like on our platform, and basically, whether it will sink or swim. There has been no confirmation that it will ever happen (other than that it will be going cross-platform), but now an invite for beta testing of the app has been spotted by some users who have actually received invites.
The email has not come directly from Apple though, but from a service called Betabound, a site where users can get access to various beta testing programs. The notice says that the user is being invited “to test Apple Music for Android.” You need to apply for it, and answer some questions in order to get into the program. Don’t worry, there’s no math involved here, but there are some difficult questions, like “If you could only listen to 5 albums for the rest of your life, what would they be and why?”
Now you may wonder as to the legitimacy of Betabound. It has been around for years, even over a decade and they have been running software/hardware betas for some time now. And a legit company like them will probably not be running “scams” and proudly using the Apple Music name, if there wasn’t a sliver of truth. While we still haven’t heard a peep from Apple about another app for Android (the first was Move to iOS, but they don’t want to remember that), saying that Apple Music will be going cross-platform is as good as saying it will be released on Android.
So what we do now is wait for news from those who applied for the beta program and who will eventually get in. And if you’re part of the Betabound mailing list and got an invite, hit us up and let us know what happens and if it’s really legit.
