You have a lot of video and messaging apps nowadays, unlike before when your only best option was Skype. But even if the competition is fierce, they are still up and running and even trying to one-up the others in the market by bringing features and services that you can only find with them. Their newest offering is the ability to invite people to a conversation, no matter what device they’re using, and even if they don’t have a Skype account to begin with.
Skype users will now be able to use a unique link in order to invite other people to a Skype conversation. You will be able to send it through email, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter, etc. And if the person you want to chat with doesn’t have a Skype account yet, they don’t need to sign up to be able to chat with you. All they need to do is join as a guest from their web browser using the Skype for Web page. This is applicable for both one-to-one and group messaging, and for voice and video calls as well.
To start a new conversation, just click on the +New button in the latest version of Skype for Web (also Skype for Windows) and then you’ll get a unique link which you can share with anyone you want to chat with. All they have to do is click the link and they will be able to join the conversation.
However, for now, the rollout is still in the US and the UK. But Skype has promised that they will be rolling out the feature to the rest of the world.
