The bad news is that you still cannot upload photos on Instagram through your web browser on your computer or laptop. The good news is that you can now search through thousands (maybe millions) of Instagram posts even when you’re not on the app but sitting in front of your desktop, as the photo sharing giant has decided to boost its web search.

While it’s not perfect and there are still some features we can wish for, at least it’s now easier to search through hashtags, users, and images in general, whether you need it for research, inspiration, or if you’re mildly stalking someone. You won’t get the full explore options that you have on the mobile app, but at least it’s a big improvement from the previous search that was barely a search. Sharing a certain picture on your other social networks or even email is also now easier since you can link hashtags and even locations.

Last month, Instagram updated how you search through the app, and added an all-new Explore page. Included also in the update is the ability to see which hashtags or topics are trending from all over the world. Search was massively improved, as you can now use it as an image search engine, including searching for places, in case you need to dream about your next travel destination.

But for now, those features aren’t on the browser search yet, and you still need to log in to your Instagram account on the web in order to search. We have no idea if uploading from the web is in the cards anytime soon, but for now, you’d have to be satisfied with using your mobile app for that purpose.
