“I’m Ok Mama”. These words are what most moms would like to hear from their kids and teenagers who have started to wander about the world. In this day and age, there’s no reason for any child to lie about his location because mama will know. What will all the GPS trackers, devices, and apps available, it’s gonna be hard now for anyone to hide.
This free Android locator could be any parent’s best friend. Give your child a smartphone with this app installed and you’ll see where he’s been going or if he is coming home on time after school. We didn’t have this before in our generation so I find this awesome and annoying at the same time. It’s helpful for parents but for the children, it’s one nuisance to their teenage adventures.
The only problem I see with the ‘I’m Ok Mama’ is when the kids forget the phone (deliberately or not) or if they delete the app. How is the location of child obtained? Data from WiFi networks, GPS, and cell towers. What’s also good about this app is that your kid won’t have to be embarrassed reporting all his whereabouts to mommy. Doing that can be embarrassing but with the app, your child can silently report his location or movement.
App is free to download but there are some in-app purchases offered. Just install the app on your kid’s phone, create a rule including the geo-zone where he is not supposed to leave, and specify the contact information which will be used to send notifications if the kid has broken any rule.
Okay, so this is one app that kids need to learn to live with. Parents will love this for obvious reasons. App even comes with additional features like “the package of 99 Rules” and auto reply with location by SMS-request. The latter is an automatic reply that specifies the location of the kid and a link to his geo-position on a map. There’s also the manual location notification, that allows a child to send any notification via an SMS or email. Message can be sent manually by simply clicking on the application’s widget. This way, your kid can send an SMS if he appears to be lost or out of the geo-fence you’ve set.
‘I’m Ok Mama’ does not require any registration nor does it consume a lot of battery. No need to install the same app on your own phone because email notifications or SMS will be sent to you. Geo-position data are sent to the parent’s device directly from the child’s phone so you don’t have to worry about such information being shared and stored on 3rd-party servers.
