Huawei smartphone owners, particularly of the newer models, your OEM has made the official announcement for their plans for the rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat. If you were wishing to have it before the year ends, sorry but you’d have to spend the rest of 2016 with a Marshmallow-run device. The updates will begin sometime in the first quarter of 2017 but they did not give a specific month so you’ll have to patiently wait for it.

The Nougat update will actually arrive in the Huawei devices through version 5.0 of the EMUI skin, a proprietary custom Android experience from the Chinese OEM. They promise that this new version is more secure, efficient, and user friendly as well. They said that it cuts down most of the processes that you usually do on your device and with just 2-3 clicks, you will be able to reach 90% of the core functions.

Users will also be able to choose from the new UI between the standard layout or an app drawer, whichever fits their lifestyle more. They can also switch seamlessly between their work/professional life and their personal life because profiles can run in parallel when your device updates to the latest version.

The update will be rolling out first to the Huawei Mate 8 and P9 and then later on to the P9 Plus, P9 lite, nova, and the nova Plus. If you can’t wait for the first quarter of 2017, you can apply to be a beta tester of the Android 7.0 Nougat if you have the P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, or Mate 8.
