Huawei just made official the Huawei G9 Lite smartphone, which if you’re curious, is a localized version of the Huawei P9 Lite that launched globally a month ago hot on the heels of the flagship Huawei P9. As such, the Huawei G9 Lite carries much of the same specs the P9 Lite has. In the same breath, the China-based company also went official with a 7-inch variant of the MediaPad M2.
The Huawei G9 Lite shouldn’t be a stranger to us by now, given that we’ve already seen its international cousin. The phone sports a 5.2-inch FullHD (1080p) LCD display powered by the company’s in-house octa-core Kirin 650 processor and supported by 3GB RAM. The internal storage is at 16GB expandable via microSD, and they’ve retained the fingerprint sensor at the back with the 13MP/5MP camera combo. We hear that Huawei’s Honor 5C (US market sub-brand) will also carry the same configuration.
The MediaPad M2 was unveiled with 10.1-inch and 8.0-inch variants, but today a 7-inch variant joins the lineup. The smaller tablet is also the first Huawei slate to have a fingerprint sensor, and this tablet comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset for its 1080p display. That is supported by 3GB RAM, and you have a choice between a 16GB internal storage variant or a 32GB one.
The Huawei G9 Lite will cost significantly cheaper than the full-fledged dual-camera P9’s – at USD$260. The MediaPad M2 7.0 will set you back USD$245 for the 16GB model and USD$276 for the 32GB one. These will be on sale in the Chinese market by May 13.
