The Huawei P20 Pro was already named the ‘Best Photo Smartphone’ so we know it’s really good. A teardown revealed the great design and its triple-camera setup. The phone also won a battery drain test and topped the DxOMark’s mobile photography standards. We’ve got our hands on the phone that allows AI-powered photography. We haven’t heard anything recent about the premium flagship smartphone from Huawei but Zack Nelson aka JerryRigEverything just did a durability test. The last test we featured was over a month ago– a Drop Test of Samsung Galaxy S9+ and iPhone X. It’s about time a new phone gets scratched, burned, and bent.
Watch the video below:
The device is thick and gives a pretty solid feeling. Its premium look and feel already make it a clear winner. As with most flagship phones, this one scratched at level 6 and deeper at level 7. Note that Huawei has been only advertising a tempered glass and not Gorilla Glass.
The speaker grille doesn’t easily fall out. The edges and surfaces scratch but they are normal for metal materials. The midnight blue color looks really nice but the phone is naturally a fingerprint magnet.
Burning a lighter on the 1080p 6.1-inch AMOLED display lasted 20 seconds. It never recovered so a white spot remains. Bending from the front damages the screen but the phone still works. Doing it from the other side doesn’t add any extra damage. The phone still functions and is not a complete failure but we suggest you use a phone case and a screen protector for the Huawei P20 Pro to be sure that it’s protected from a hard fall.
