Come July 15, we’ll finally see the new Honor smartphone Huawei is currently busy working on. The Android phone has just visited TENAA which means it’s going to be announced and released soon in China. As the FCC’s equivalent in the country, any TENAA sighting means the official launch is impending. We’ve been waiting for the Huawei Honor V8 but the follow up to last year’s Honor 7 may arrive first. We’ve scooped some images from the website plus some details on the specs.
The Chinese telecom authority listed the Huawei Honor 8 with the following features: 5.2-inch screen, 1080p resolution, 2.3GHz Kirin 950 or 955 processor, 4GB RAM, 12MP dual rear camera sensors, 8MP selfie camera, IR sensor, USB Type-C PORT, and NFC connectivity. Phone already runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is equipped with a fingerprint sensor, WiFi, 4G LTE connectivity, fast charging technology, and a 2900mAh battery.
The new smartphone from Huawei will be ready in two storage capacities: 32GB model for 1999 yuan ($300) and a 64GB variant for 2199 yuan ($330)–still very mid-range prices.
We’re not sure if this Honor 8 is already the Honor V8 but can’t be the latter because we’ve seen the smartphone twice already on TENAA a few months ago. Huawei could still have done significant changes especially in the design but we doubt that. We’ll know for sure a couple of weeks from today when Huawei hosts the official press launch.
