The HTC ThunderBolt was one of the more impressive devices we saw at this year’s CES. Since its announcement, details have been slim as we near a release date, but now it seems that our friends at AndroidGuys have been told that the device will be hitting Verizon on February 24th.
As far as pricing goes, the official price is still unknown. We have heard rumors from the standard $199 all the way to $299 but we’re expecting this device to ship around $250. Even though this price-point is a bit high, it is Verizon’s first mobile device to feature both 4G and simultaneous data/voice, so it’s understandable that this would be a “premium” phone.
Will you be picking one up, or is the lack of a Tegra 2 in the device and no 4G coverage in your area going to prevent you from making the purchase at the end of next month? Let us know!
I m sooo excited… boy what an empty life i have that this is the most excitign thing going on…
Everyone asks me why its so great to have 4g.. to which i respond.. “Because I can!” ha!
I spoke to a Verizon rep today who slipped and said preorders for the Thunderbolt will be on Feb. 3rd. So I wouldn’t doubt it having a Feb. 17th or 24th date release.
stop lying you didn’t talk to anybody!! LYER!!!
Verizon reps are just as informed as chickens before being sent to the slaughterhouse. You all have know more about what phones are out there and when they are coming out.
Because there is no 5g yet.
You’re not alone. I’m pretty excited about an LTE powered handset!
Although, a dual-core LTE device from Verizon would’ve been the bomb!
Thanks, V

I heard it was coming out earlier then the 24th.
Me too but it’s all speculation anyway.
I’m just curious when the 4G data plan is going to cost.
on the 24th because the iPhone launches on the 10 and it is 14 days for the new return policy
Thunderbolt or do I wait another agonizing 3 months for the bionic? Dual core or second gen snap dragon? Decisions decisions.
@Wfoster001- I have no life either
Wait for sec gen snapdragon. Motorola always seems to let me down….
Does this phone handle “exchange email”?????? I have to be able to get my Company email!
yes, the exchange server of outlook should be accessible via 4g LTE network and wifi hotspots.
“should be accessible” isn’t confirming enough… we need to purchase 5 new phones at work that have the capability of syncing with our exchange server without using our vpn port on the server.. Does anyone know if this is possible with this phone?
Wait for Bionic. No 4G in my area this year anyway.
4g data will be the same price as the 3g but they are also adding smaller cheaper data plans. according to Verizon tech i spoke to the bionic will not have data/talk capabilities on 3g only on lte. im a huge motorola fan and as an owner the bionic was my choice but being in a 3g area and working in a 4g area makes the data/phone on 3g a big bonus of the thunderbolt.

While Iwould prefer dual cores, I am thinking a second gen snapdragon may be a safer bet than a first gen T2. 4G has been live in my area for some time, I think I am all over this phone.
in the mean time, check out our hands on video of the Thunderbolt at CES 2011

I’ve already had 4G in my area as well as the other area I frequent. I’m not a fan of motorola and its something about Sense UI that’s just attractive. So I think I might go for the TBolt our maybe I will snag both with upgrades and decide which one to sell after side by side play.
first of all Sprint can use 4g and voice at the same time. i tested it with the evo and it was nice. Sprint is way much cheaper. i know verizon has a lot of coverage. but i9 dont use 4g at home co’z i have wifi and i can get up to 10 mbs. and i would be paying only half of it. i expect the customers to be dissappointed to know that verizon’s 4 g will be like sprint’s because it has just launched and things are being kinked out. i get 6 mbps with wimax. i doubt verizon will unleash the full 21 mbps. even t- mobile just capped the hspa with 7 mbps only. so they will be looking at an overpriced phone and the design is similar to the sprint’s evo. verizon cost more than any other carrier.
NO HDMI!!!???? FU!
Its the 14th…
of what march, LOL
has it been confirmed that it is the 14th and not the 28th??
I want this SO bad!
release the Thunderbolt before it becomes obsolete

Got fed up with the thunderbolt delays & purchased a Motorola Atrix. They had reduced it another $50 bucks so it was only $149.00 with a 2yr contract. Better battery, faster, and cheaper then the thunderbolt
