Even before people start receiving their HTC 10 smartphone, the Taiwan-based gadget manufacturer is already pushing out its first big update to their new flagship. The HTC 10 has been warmly received by the tech community, and it needed the good reception to keep HTC relevant in the market. The company wants to make sure the good impression lasts a while, and has put out an update that gives a number of fixes to the new smartphone.

The best fix of the lot may well be the camera software fix. Auto HDR improvements, better low light sharpness, and brightness improvements were included in the update. We liked the HTC 10 camera. We think as long as a manufacturer uses a high-end camera module, software tweaks can make a really big difference. This update is good news for those of you who might have had some concerns about the HTC 10’s camera quality.

Other updates included are in this list:

1. Improved WiFi connectivity, including Smart MIMO
2. Camera tuning
– Auto HDR improvements (from 1.88 to 1.67EV)
– Low light sharpness/brightness improvements Outdoor sharpness improvements
– Reduced purple noise in Pro mode
– Modified laser autofocus UI
3. Bug fixes

The HTC 10 will begin to ship next week in the U.S., and we assume HTC will continue to offer similar updates to keep the HTC 10 performing. Not that it’s a bad piece of gadgetry to begin with – we like the HTC 10. But these updates should keep the phone close to what HTC envisions it to be.
