Gadget leaker @upleaks has come up with news from HTC – one of the major players in the smartphone market that has been relatively quiet in comparison to all who took part in the IFA 2014 gadget rush. But according to the leak, they may be coming up with a new gadget, codenamed the “HTC Eye”.

We don’t know much about the gadget yet – only that it will have a big-ish 5.2-inch screen with full HD (1080p) resolution. That would give it a considerably dense pixel per inch (ppi) ratio of 423, making for a great display. The leaker also mentions that it might come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset – that means a quadcore processor at 2.5Ghz and an Adreno 330 GPU. Considering that only a few manufacturers have justified spending for Snapdragon 805s, the 801 may be the logical choice.

The HTC Eye, in whatever form it may take, is purportedly carrying the 13MP duo camera system that HTC likes to use on its premier phones. It might possibly be that this will be a Windows phone, or that most of the other specs might be taken from the HTC One M8. At this point in the game, nothing is sure yet.

With Google’s Android L launch just around the corner, it would be exciting for HTC to come out with a full-fledged Android L phone. Let’s keep watching this space, and we’ll let you know as soon as HTC lets slip a few more information about this new device.
