Truth be told, HTC hasn’t really been on the greatest periods of their company’s history these days, as the excitement for their products have generally spiraled downwards. This is a sharp contrast to a couple of years back when the HTC One was generally considered the best Android phone you could get your hands on. Fast forward to a few years and you see the Taiwan-based company struggling for attention. Maybe this is the rationale for the HTC Preview Program, which the company officially announced through a Reddit AMA session.
The HTC Preview Program will allow fans to sign up for the chance to preview and test HTC hardware and software earlier than most people. HTC is currently accepting signups for the program, although signing up is not a guarantee that you will get free hardware in advance – they will still put your name in a list for the selection process.
Also, HTC said that the Preview Program currently spans the 4 major US carriers only. People who piggyback on those networks will have to wait until the program expands to include them. HTC also mentioned in the Reddit session that the preview program includes Europe, Canada, and Latin America.
A lot of the Reddit responders wanted to know about product decisions and hardware issues, but the team was only able to answer questions regarding the preview program specifically. So if you wanted to ask about the quality of the camera on the HTC One M9, you’re out of luck.
