In a smartphone world starting to get crowded with powerful dual and quad-core processors, 720p HD displays and more it appears that Virgin Mobile is still a little behind the times. New details are confirming that the decent but slightly outdated HTC EVO 3D will be headed to Virgin Mobile soon, possibly this summer as the HTC EVO V 4G.
That name sure takes too long to say, maybe they can call it the HTC EVO V 4G Touch 2 Plum edition. In all seriousness the EVO 3D will be landing on Virgin Mobile and should be offered up in both the standard black, and the Best Buy “Plum” purple color we reported on last year when the phone was originally released.
The EVO 3D (EVO V 4G) comes with pretty top-end specs even though it’s starting to show its age. It’s one of the few glasses-free 3D phones that also can take 3D video and pictures with the dual 5 megapixel cameras around back. Under the hood you still have plenty of power with a Qualcomm 1.2 GHz dual-core S3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and plenty of storage. It’s currently on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but should get ICS eventually. The phone has a 4.3″ display with a 960 x 540 qHD (quarter high definition) display that is crisp and looks great, just isn’t HD like some of the newer phones.
No word on an official release date, details, or pricing was available but according to PocketNow the phone is coming soon for Virgin Mobile customers.

That’s pretty impressive for Virgin.
true.. lol. How is that WIMM?
Compared the Motoactv not that great. Screen is sometimes unresponsive and it’s rather laggy. thumbs down from me. lol
Wimax isn’t too bad! It’s more like HSPA+, in certain area it can get over 15+ MBPS
It would still be better if they would just let people bring their own phone or at least have access to higher end phones even if they cost full retail.
How much will this little gem cost on Virgin Mobile 199.99 or more I am sure
what the hell. i was waiting for htc one v, which i’m guessing will come in 2 months, and now this rumor pops up? i’m not interested in high-end and 3D because ICS will be enough for me, but 4G is really tempting(if it turns out to be true). 3G on VM is really bad.
then again i still want to keep $25/m plan even at 3G………
The Evo3d has only WiMax as 4g radio, not LTE – how’s the coverage?
Wimax can be spotty across the states, but if you have in ur area, it’s pretty good. I think once Sprint releases LTE, less ppl will be using wimax, and it will be much faster like it was when it was released back in 2007
Yeah, that’s not gonna happen. Not a doubt in my mind that this phone does not make it to VM. Stop it with the VM rumors! This is too big of a jump for VM to take!
You failed
Pure BS. These rumors never come true. Give me a break.
Virgin mobile is far too cheap to give us such a phone. ive been b@#tfucked by them too many times to believe this!
ICS? You gotta be kidding me. VMUSA DOES NOT pay for bug fixes or updates. Motorola Triumph is full of major bugs and they refused to pay for a bug fix patch, much less for a Gingerbread update. Triumph has been released mid July 2011. With them, you get what you pay for. Pay the phone full price and don’t expect any support whatsoever.
Funny, when my Triumph failed to charge VM replaced it for FREE. I have no insurance and Motorola offered no assitance
