If you own an HTC One M8 or an HTC One Max, you’d be happy to know that Google is doubling your free storage to 100GB. Some owners of the latest HTC Android phones are already reporting they got their free upgrade so other users should be getting theirs soon.
I know only a few people who own an HTC phone but this bump in Google Drive is exciting news. From 50GB to 100GB of free storage, that’s like hitting a jackpot if you’re the type who saves all files on his Google Drive account. Those who own an HTC One Remix from Verizon will be happy to know that this 100GB of storage is also available to them.
HTC is only offering this bump to the One M8, One Max, and One Remix users. Recently, Google and HTC also listed the Desire 826 and Desire 610. Those with the original One and One Mini will still get the basic 25GB of cloud storage.
Curious if your free upgrade is ready? Launch the Google Drive app on your HTC phone, press Redeem, and then follow the screen prompts to finally complete redemption.
The 100GB of Google Drive storage is available for only two years. Unfortunately, those who unlocked the bootloader on their phone won’t be eligible to enjoy the offer. No mention though if bonus storage will still be available if the bootloader is unlocked after redemption. Who wants to try?
