The mid-range HTC Desire 830 has been leaked ahead of launch but the phone has just been formally announced in Taiwan. The image we saw earlier was really of the new Desire model. Not that we doubted it but we’re curious how HTC will roll out the new phone after the hype over the HTC 10 which was quickly followed by the HTC 10 Lifestyle. It’s nothing too impressive as it’s just similar to the Desire 626 that was introduced last year.
Most of the specs we listed last week turned out to be true. The 5.46-inch screen is actually 5.5-inch with 1080p display (FHD). It’s powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor and comes with a 32GB onboard storage, 3GB RAM, microSD card slot for expansion, 2800mAh battery, and BoomSound Hi-Res stereo speakers at the front. When it comes to imaging, we doubted that it will have the 12MP UltraPixel 2 but it will have a 13MP rear camera with optical image stabilization(OIS). Front-facing cam is a 4MP f/2.0 UltraPixel selfie shooter.
HTC Desire 830 will be available in the Taiwanese market this coming Friday, May 6. It’s listed at NT $9,990 which is about $310. No information if and when the smartphone will be released in other key markets.
