This is the first time we’re watching a durability test of the HTC 10 and we’re curious as to how the smartphone will pass the scrutiny of JerryRigEverything. This one is more interesting as the previous HTC One M9 didn’t do well in the same test. For this particular torture session, Jerry tried to scratch and put pressure on the Gorilla Glass 4 screen.
The first scratch was visible only on the level 6 scale of hardness. A deep scratch was made on level 7. The phone was further scrutinized and Jerry noted the camera is now covered in glass instead of plastic.
The HTC logo at the aluminum back panel was scratched. By doing so, Jerry proved that the device is pure metal and is not just covered in plastic or primer. It scratches at level 5 and can be easily scratched by a key. Interestingly, key scratches can simply be rubbed off to disappear.
The rear camera which is also covered by a thick glass was scratched. The side was found out to be made of metal as well.
With the flame test, the phone’s screen lasted nine seconds before something happened on the display. The affected part of the screen turned to black but disappeared after a while. The fingerprint scanner was scratched but was still found to be functional.
During the bend test part of the phone, HTC seemed to haven’t done anything to the design. Just like last year’s model, this one didn’t bend. The phone was very strong, thanks to the design of the metal back.
