Downloading an app on your smartphone or tablet is easy over-the-air. No need to connect your mobile device to a computer just to get the apps you want to use. For Android users, go to the Google Play Store, search for apps under different categories, then click on install. While downloading and then deleting an app you don’t like or won’t use is easy, it can take so much of your data and battery—even time! If only we could test an app before actually downloading, life would be so much better.
And so Google has heard your pleas by working on a feature to allow trial of Android apps first before downloading. This means you can choose to download or not after testing the app. No official announcement from Google yet but according to The Information, Google is already considering the process.
The new approach would be beneficial for those who don’t want to spend so much on app downloads, mobile connection, or data. Because you also spend for every second and every byte you download especially when you depend on mobile connectivity, it’s best that you test an app first. How about for paid apps you’ve recently downloaded? Google offers a refund window and has even extended it from 15 minutes to 2 hours. This is good news but we need something more efficient.
We have no idea how Google’s Android team will do this but the company is believed to be experimenting for more than a year now. Let’s hope Google will finally make this happen. I don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t be a reality so let’s just wait and see.
