Google tries to Pinterest it up by saving image search in folders

If you’ve done your fair search of Google image searches, whether it’s looking for silly cats, winter outfit pegs, or shirtless pictures of your current celebrity obsession, organizing and saving these pictures can sometimes be a pain. Yes you can screenshot and save the images directly onto your device, but you’ve been probably waiting for an easier way to do all these. Yes, you have apps like Pinterest, but what if you don’t want to use another app. Google has come up with a solution by letting you star and organize your images in folders.

For example, if you want your personal dress maker to copy that Oscar gown that Cate Blanchett wore at last year’s ceremony, you can image search, then tap the star next to it so that you don’t have to search for it again once you’re at the shop. If you’ve chosen to star several dresses that can someday be your future outfits as well, you can now add these images to a folder with similar images. Just tap the edit icon, create a group and name it appropriately, then it will be added already.

Your Google page will now have two sections: saved images and collections. To be able to do all this and access them wherever you are, you need to be logged in to the same Google account of course. It will be available in all major browsers across your mobile devices.

Unfortunately, for now only we hope, this feature is only available in the US. But we have a feeling it will expand to other territories as well. Now let’s see if users will give make this their primary image organizer, at least when it comes to Google image search.
