Aside from a candidate’s platform and stance on key issues that you care about, one other thing that voters need to know is where the money is coming from. You wouldn’t necessarily want to support someone who is being backed by corporations or individuals that you don’t agree with. But it is actually a little hard to find reliable sources, even if it’s easy to Google them. But now Google is taking it upon themselves to provide people with the complete picture as to who is funding which candidate from their party.

When you Google a candidate’s name plus the words campaign funding on your mobile device, you’ll get a card that will show you how much money they have raised, where they’re actually getting the money from, and even the percentage of where the contributions are from. You will even be able to see a small comparison against the politician’s biggest competitor to put the information you have in perspective.

Another new thing that Google search is bringing when it comes to the elections is the search trends for a particular candidate and how it compares to the other ones they’re up against. If you just search for a candidate’s name, like “sanders”, you will see a graph regarding the search interest in relation to their competitor, in this case, “clinton”. But if you want more information about that, you will need to click the link to the Google Trends site where all the search info you would need can be found.

Since a lot of people have access to Google at the very least, it is a good way to find out more information about a candidate you’re interested in, and they are helping you sift through the search results by bringing relevant results, like their stand on certain hot-button issues, latest important news about them, caucus results, etc. This new update has already rolled out to most Android devices, so happy Googling.
