Don’t you just hate it when an unknown number appears on your screen? More often than not, they are telemarketers trying to get your attention to avail of whatever promo they have. If not marketers, they could be loan sharks coming after you. Google knows you’re annoyed by them that’s why it has added a special spam protection for your Android smartphone. The feature is readily available for Android One and Nexus devices after updating the Google Phone app.
Spam callers will have a hard time getting to you now because of the spam protection which will be available if you have the Caller ID. Make sure it is turned on and that you have the most recent version of the app.
Caller ID and spam protection work together so you can know important information about callers that are calling you for the first time. These are people not in your contacts list yet but would like to talk to you about certain matters. With spam protection, you may even receive warnings about numbers already listed as spam.
The feature is enabled by default but feel free to turn it off or if you want to filter the numbers on your own. To turn it off, simply go to Phone> More> Caller ID & spam protection and then choose ‘Off’. Select ‘On’ if you want to enable spam protection.
