While Google News may not be the most popular news aggregating app out there, it does have its followers and user base, mostly those who are highly dependent on the whole Google ecosystem. If you are from any of the new countries added to its roster, then you’ll be pleased to know that they are adding support for your native language, bringing the total number of supported languages to 35.
Support for Romanian, Bahasa Indonesia, Bengali, Bulgarian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Thai will be rolled out over the next few days. By adding these languages, Google News will be getting a potential audience of more than 260 million people who speak and read those languages. They will be getting news that they actually consider important, and in their own mother tongue at that, widening their world while at the same time, preserving something within them.
Google News currently has more than 70 regional editions that brings tailored news items in 28 languages across 45 countries. Each edition has specific news items relevant to that region and you can choose from the drop down menu at the homepage which edition you’d like to view.
Google promised that they will be adding even more new languages and editions over the next few months. If you live in any of the countries using the 7 new languages mentioned above, you can expect the language support to roll out in the next few days.
