Staying on the throne for more than 60 years is no small feat, especially since there are only very few legit thrones left in our time. And so Google UK decided to do a tiny tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her becoming the longest sitting monarch in UK history. For a limited time, a “PegMa’am” icon will be visible in the area around Buckingham Palace as part of their celebration over this particular “achievement”.

As of 17:30 BST, September 9, 2015, Queen Elizabeth II has spent 3,226 days, 16 hours and approximately 30 minutes on the throne, which means she has surpassed her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. Although the Queen said, this achievement is “not one to which I have ever aspired,” it is still something worth celebrating, and Google UK agrees too.

The peg icon of the queen, with her crown and blue sash and her signature white hair, is replacing the small yellow figurine/stick man that you can drag and drop on Google Maps to launch Street View. But you will only see the “PegMa’am” in the area around Buckingham Palace, and you can still drag and drop the figure onto the map.

Of course this isn’t the first time that Google has celebrated special occasions by doing something in their products. But people were expecting the tribute to appear on Google Doodles, which is their usual style, but instead of doing that, the Google UK homepage just has a simple message under the search bar with the words “Congratulations, Ma’am”.
