Google isn’t as prolific in updating Maps but it is one major app that takes effort in improving and adjusting depending on the feedback and suggestions of the users. We learned it’s been trying natural-sounding directions while Google Maps APIs are finally open to games. It’s also now back in China after eight long years. Recently at the I/O 2018 conference, the tech giant made an announcement the Maps would be more personal and assistive. It will also show the Material Theme for Android. We haven’t seen and tried the said updated design yet but the new interface is now being tested.
The new design comes with rounded cards plus more context and details including the location and business hours among others. You will see the Directions so you can know how many minutes it will take you to from your location to a specific destination depending on your mode of transport whether by walking, commuting, own car, or the train. This part will be joined by another shortcut for Calling and Sharing as described. For some locations, you may even see some images just above the details if available.
Some users have reported seeing the improvements soon but we don’t know the public and wider rollout.
