Google recently announced some new features of Google Play Games and those are bound to make the lives of game developers a lot easier. The new ad tools and features were announced on Developer Day at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, and there’s bound to be one or two things in here that might help developers have a better go at promoting their products.
First up, the Google Play Store is launching the “Indie Corner” which will add to the list of game categories you will want to visit while browsing for new stuff to install. The new collection will highlight amazing games built by indie developers submitted to through the Indie Corner submission channel.
Also, Google has added to the developer’s arsenal some robust new features to Player Analytics, the reporting tool of Google Play. First is game parameters management, which allows developers to update gameplay and game economy parameters without the need for APK changes or resubmitting your app. Second is the video recording API, which will allow developers to put in a video recording feature to their game. This will let users share their videos with their friends and on YouTube easily, increasing the reach of your game.
Lastly, Google is making it easier for developers to target the right audience with in-game ads – this means that Google is making it easier to locate the people who are more likely to spend on a game and encourage them, well, to spend on your game.
