Google Drive update: multiple files interaction, new sharing interface

As businesses and individuals start adapting to the “cloud digital culture”, cloud services like Dropbox and OneDrive need to up their game since competition will grow fiercer in the next few months. Google Drive is not one to be left behind of course and the newest update to their Android app brings you several features, including making it easier to send and receive multiple files, as bringing you a brand new and more convenient way of sharing files, both single and multiple ones.

First off, a feature that has previously been seen on the Google Drive for desktop app and the web browser, is now finally available on the Android app as well. You can now send and receive multiple files all at once, just working in the background as you will. Even the action button in this multiple-selection interface has slightly changed. The down arrow button is for when you want to receive or download these selected items while the diagonal upwards arrow will send these items to your selected contacts. The star and trash symbols have now been “relegated” to the overflow menu and been replaced by these two arrows.

Meanwhile, the sharing interface of Google Drive also needed a bit of a tweak. The Add People section now shows you an invite list and each possible contact now has a mini card and when you choose them, you’ll see more information, including the email address.

Google Drive will be updating their Android app, with users having to expect these changes to take effect “over the next week or so.” There are also the usual bug fixes and improvements, so just wait for the update to reach you and your region.
