Now that the Android Nougat is revealed, we’re more curious to know how it will work with other Google products like the Android Wear. We already know it will have the Project Tango baked in but as to how it will be integrated with a smartwatch, we have no idea until today. We learned that there might be Nexus Android Wear this year–not just one but two. Another interesting idea is that the two will be “something fishy” just like the Marlin and the Sailfish. We’re not sure if those are the final names but the two Android Wear devices are known this early as the Swordfish and Angelfish.

With this development, we’re guessing that future Android or Nexus products will be known with their fishy names. If the two Nexus phones will be available in two sizes, these Android Wear devices will also be ready in two forms–one sporty and large and another one simpler and smaller. We don’t doubt that Google is working on new wearables but the question is when they will launch and how they are different from the past models.

Will they be called the Nexus Android Wear or Android Wear Nexus? How about Nexus watches? Or will we know them as the Nexus Swordfish or Angelfish? Actually, the names don’t matter right now. Android Police published what their reliable sources shared about the wearables.

Features include full circular displays without any flat tires. The larger of the two is believed to be the Angelfish. It’s believed to look a lot like the LG Urbane and the Moto 360 complete with the lugs but with a more sporty look and feel. Expect to see three buttons on the right side. The smartwatch is thick just like the Urbane LTE and with the watch face thicker. When it comes to the watch material, it might be set in titanium or with a matte dark gray finish. Other specs include a heart rate monitor, LTE, and GPS. The LTE function means it may work as a standalone smartwatch–meaning you can make calls straight from it.

On the other hand is the Swordfish which is the smaller of the two. We’re expecting this will look more like the Pebble Time Round. Unlike the Angelfish, this Swordfish will only have one button on the center-right part of the body. It will be thinner than the Moto 360 and might be available in three color options: rose gold, silver, and titanium. Since this is smaller, don’t expect for GPS or LTE connectivity at all.

The rumored Nexus watches will have Google Assistant and a gallery of new styles of watch faces. We’re also guessing these two will include the Wear 2.0 version already.

  1. A clarification on the fish-based names: just thought I’d mention that its not a new thing, in fact Google has been doing it with Nexus devices for years (mako was the nexus 4, tuna was the nexus 5, shamu n6, angler n6p etc), using the fish as codenamed whilst the devices are still in development. so the watches probably won’t be called angelfish and swordfish but will be referred to as such until their public release
