Google developers have a lot of time in their hands. It’s either that or they are really passionate about their work that they can still make cool Android apps with the Google Creative Lab under Android Experiments. The lab is very much similar to the Garage Project of Microsoft where developers are free to be creative.

The latest app from Google Creative Lab is the ‘Meter’. It’s a cool new app that allows the Android device owner to display statistics and other important information like battery level, missed calls, or app usage on your screen. Numbers are obtained real-time and data are displayed on the wallpaper which works as a live dashboard. You can download the Meter app from the Google Play Store or from github.

You wallpaper may be geeky with the data and metrics you see on your phone screen’s background but those information are the kinds you need to be notified of for a hassle-free mobile experience. The Meter needs another app to work to enable ‘NotificationListenerService’. Doing this will make the wallpaper come alive with information that matter to you.

Meter app was designed and conceptualized by Mikkel Koser. Jonas Jongejan and Kyle Philips did the code. There are some reports of crashing but it should be okay. App is guaranteed to be very informative and useful to those who are always conscious of their rime.
