Having your smartphone stolen is perhaps one of the most annoying problems in the world. You may be anxious because your secrets will either be forgotten or shared to the whole world. You don’t want the latter to happen so make sure you delete everything. You can do that even if phone is already missing or stolen. Google has made some changes to the system so you can wipe your phone’s data remotely.

The idea of “bricking” makes it possible for anyone to wipe his or her phone immediately. It can be dangerous if you accidentally do this to your device but for most of the time, it will be useful and make the phone useless to the robber or whoever found it.

The AOSP (Android Open Source Project) has been merged with bricking support by Google. This is more of a concept or idea that’s still being analyzed and tested and we don’t know if Google will ever implement this. The Android Device Manager is already useful but adding that wipe-off feature would be make all things safe and secure for you.

Google could also just be thinking of adding it to the many native features of the Android Device Manager.

  1. Better idea: add an option to force the GPS on… We know it’s possible and we know certain people above can do it… It would be useful to let us have the option as well
