The latest Gmail app update has arrived in the Play Store this afternoon. This update brings the Gmail app to version 4.7, but perhaps more important is the bit about the update adding a few new features. The Gmail app gains support for vacation responders, printing and also saw some additional support in terms of attachments.

Up first are the vacation responders. This one is simple and just as the name implies. Key here though, you can now set these up on your mobile device, that way when you rush out of the office to begin your vacation and later realize you forgot — you are taken care of without having to go back to the office. Options here include the start and end date as well as a subject and message. You can also flip the switch to turn these on and off.

Next up is the printing, though this one is limited to those running Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Here you will be able to choose the option for Print, which will be found along with the previously existing Reply All. Once you select the option to print you will be taken to the more traditional print menu. While some may or may not remember this, that includes options to adjust the number of copies, whether you are printing in color, the pages, paper size and orientation.

Moving on and we find additional attachment support. Once you are running the latest version of Gmail for Android, you will be able to send attachments of any type. This includes documents, PDFs and even ZIP files. Of course, the basics such as images and video are still included in the support.

Last up for today is something that will benefit those with an older device. Or more specifically, a device with low memory. Google has said this Gmail update will bring enhanced performance (of the app) to “low memory devices as part of Project Svelte.”
