If you’ve been pretty jealous of your friends with iOS devices who have their own Giphy Cam, the wait is finally over. The app which lets you create your own GIFs for sharing in the GIF network and in other social networks is now finally available for Android users and you’ll be able to enjoy the “Instagram of GIFs” as some call it. They’ve also added some new features for iOS users, but unfortunately, those of us who are on the other side of the fence will have to wait a little while longer to enjoy them.
But other than that, there are plenty of things to enjoy with the app, if you like creating GIFs and looking for the appropriate ones to respond to friends’ messages or posts. The app lets you create your own GIFs and then put on various filters and fades as you edit. And since we’re also living in the Snapchat world, you can also add your own stickers and emojis to make the GIF more “millennial”.
To record, all you have to do is hold the record button to create your own GIF. You can also tap the button to record a 5-frame burst mode GIF. You’ll be able to share your GIFs through text messages, on various messenger apps, social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. You can also save it to your gallery if you need to use it at a later time.
Unfortunately, the ability to use already existing video or pictures from your gallery to create a GIF isn’t part of this initial release yet. Hopefully, they’ll be adding it soon, as well as the Augmented Reality features which they recently added to the iOS app. You can download the Giphy Cam from the Google Play Store for free.
