With the many friends that you have on Facebook (or so we assume), keeping track of all of them can sometimes be a grueling task. Notifications have been your best friend as it shows you the more important things you need to know from your FB account and the people or posts that you follow. Now it’s about to become even more useful (or so they hope) as it is expanding the scope of your notifications on your Facebook mobile app.
But don’t worry, Facebook doesn’t plan on flooding your notifications with information overload. You can actually customize the additional things that you can see, which includes getting notifications for your friends’ milestones and life events (let’s hope you can choose which friends you can see there), sports scores, TV reminders and movie info based on the pages that you like, and events that you’ve said you’ll join (and then eventually forget).
If you’ve enabled your Location History, it will also be able to give you information based on where you are or where you’ve been. You will receive weather updates (both current conditions and severe weather alerts), events that are happening near you, movies that are playing in theaters around you, and bars and restaurants near you, complete with links to their FB pages, as well as reviews from other people.
Your current notification settings will not change, but you can adjust and customize by tapping the arrow to the right of each card, and adding more cards as well. This will gradually (maybe slowly) roll out to the Facebook app for Android users in the US. No word yet if this will expand to other territories as well.
