General Motors – including the other brands under it – will be recieving updates for car information/entertainment systems which will make Android Auto finally available on their latest vehicles. In a spate of announcements, GMC, Chevy, Cadillac, and Buick have all announced that their car ownders can now come in and recieve updates to their systems that will make Android Auto available.
For Chevy, the company announced that US-based dealers now have the software to update cars equipped with their own 8-inch MyLink system and add Android Auto capability, specifically for 2016 model vehicles. For Buick, the Android Auto update is for owners of the 2016 Regal or the 2016 LaCrosse model of vehicles.
For Cadillac, their announcement marks the debut of Android Auto in the brand, starting with the 2016 Cadillac CT6 sedan and 2017 Cadillac XT5. Effective today, all Cadillac owners with 2016 car models (with the Cadillac CUE system) can also avail of the Android Auto for free, if they visit their nearest local dealer.
For GMC, Android Auto joins Apple’s CarPlay on the 2016 GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon models equipped with the 8-inch IntelliLink systems. The announcement says that the upgrade will be performed by GMC dealers at no cost to consumers.
