There are a lot (and we mean a lot) of camera and photo apps out there for mobile photo enthusiasts. Choosing one (or maybe two or three) to use can be a pain. If you want something that has several filters and one that can actually let you see how your photo will look with the filters before you take them, then maybe you’d like to consider this new cam on the block called Geak Camera.
This app is simple and no frills, but has the advantage of offering you live filters, instead of just letting you choose after you’ve already snapped your shot. You have eight choices for filters: three gray-scale (mono, tonal, noir) and five color (dew, fade, nostalgic, plain, transfer). They appear in a 3×3 grid, with the middle frame the unfiltered version. Just choose which one to try out and the thumbnail will expand to give you a better view. Just click on the grid again if you’re not satisfied and you’ll see the other ones, each subtly changing the profile and contrast of the photo you will take.
The app has three shooting modes, namely camera, video, and square. These three are displayed above the shutter and to choose which one to use, you just flick it left or right. The camera mode is self-explanatory. The only other thing we’d mention is that its default shooting mode is 16:9, different from most apps that usually use 4:3. The square mode is an easier way for you to take photos for profile pics or for Instagram. The live filters can also be used here. The video mode is what it says it is, but for now, the live filters can’t be applied here.
Geak Camera is still relatively new so it shouldn’t be closely compared yet to other apps like it who have had more time to perfect their craft. If you want to try it out though, you can download it from the Google Play Store for free.
