Smartwatches and other usual fitness wearables are great for tracking activities, showing notifications, counting your steps, etc. But for the more “serious” athletes who are into hard core training for a future event or something, they need something more. Garmin is introducing two new wearables that will specifically cater to swimmers and triathletes, the HRM-Swim and the HRM-Tri. They are the first underwater heart rate monitors that the company is offering.

The HRM-Tri has an adjustable strap with rounded edges and covered seams so when you’re wearing it while biking, swimming, and running, it’s like it’s not there. It can give you “advanced running dynamics, including cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time.” The HRM-Swim meanwhile will be able to capture your heart rate while you’re in the pool (obviously) and will not affect your swim as it has very minimal drag.

Both devices stores your heart rate data and other information it gets when you’re training and then sends it to the Garmin Connect and Garmin Connect Mobile apps through whichever smartphone is connected to your device. You can also get information about your pace, strokes, SWOLF, heart-rate graphics, mapping, and other relevant information. The HRM-Tri’s battery lasts up to 10 months while the HRM-Swim lasts until 18 months.

The two devices will start shipping and selling by the 3rd quarter of this year. The HRM-Tri costs $129.99 while the HRM-Swim costs $99.99. The accessory bundle will be at $199.99.
